Here are my 10 tips to losing body fat and keeping it off.

You must change your relationship with food and this starts in the mind, you must except that you cannot eat poor food choices and lose weight. You must get it in your mind that you must eat like a slim person.

You need to eat like a thin person and that means you must become a grazer, so you should eat 5 or 6 smaller meals throughout the day to keep your metabolism revved up.

Only eat when you are hungry, this sounds obvious but most people eat without thinking, like eating popcorn with a movie or some fast food on the run. So think before you put some food in your mouth, ask yourself am I really hungry.

I feel hungry or am i. Your brain receives a signal when you are hungry and it also receives a signal when you are thirsty but the problem lies in the fact that these signals are almost identical. So how do you know which signal is which? Well you don't so the best way to find out is if you feel hungry then drink a glass of water and then wait for a short time and see if you still have a feeling of hunger, if you do then eat.

Only eat natural foods, these include fruit and vegetables, lean meat and fish, wholegrains such as brown rice or wholewheat pasta, pulses such as lentils, nuts and seeds. Eating a balanced diet including these food groups will provide your body with all the nutrients it needs and it will stop your blood sugar spiking.

Don't eat the sweet stuff such as sweets, cookies and anything with added sugar will cause your body to release insulin to bring your body's blood sugar level back to normal. The side effect of this is it tells your body to store the excess sugar as fat and makes you feel hungry again.

Watch out for the hidden sugars that are in white bread and pasta and even in brown bread, yes brown bread is just white bread dyed brown to make it look healthy. These hidden sugars act just like sweets in your system so read the label carefully and remember to buy wholemeal or wholegrain.

Move it to lose it- you must start a regular exercise plan if you want to lose weight. Start slow and build up over time and find something that you enjoy doing. It will make it easier for you to continue into the future.

Start working out and gain some muscle, this with help you with your fat loss by increasing your metabolism and helping you burn extra calories whilst you are going about your day.

Preparation prevents piss poor performance- always carry a healthy snack with you just in case you get hungry when you are out of the house. Keep a diary of what you eat each day and weigh yourself once a week.
